What It Is

A development-focused club program.

DSC Elite Basketball Academy is a development-focused club basketball program committed to investing in young athletes: equipping them with the knowledge and tools to excel in their sport, and in life.

Players practice twice a week at our private San Clemente facility, one hour of skill training paired with one hour of strength and conditioning, led by head coach Jake Gellatly, CSCS, with assistant coaches Taylor Johnson and Raphael Garcia. The team plays in tournaments twice a month, competing fearlessly while showing respect to opponents, coaches, and referees.

Because we live inside a physical therapy clinic, jumping and cutting are coached to protect knees and ankles, not just chase numbers. The season is long, and the players still standing in March are the ones who trained to last.

What Makes Our Club Different

Player development first, above all else.

We practice twice a week at all times throughout our seasons: one hour of skill training and on-court work, and one hour of team strength and conditioning, all at our private facility in San Clemente, DSC Performance and Physical Therapy. Our program is built on these foundational beliefs about youth athletics.

Belief 1 of 4

Kids should want to go to practice

We strive to make practice and training a fun environment that kids look forward to going to.

Young athletes should play multiple sports

Playing multiple sports as a youth athlete enhances coordination, prevents burnout, and minimizes overuse injury. We strongly encourage our athletes to play multiple sports and take time away from basketball, and we aid their development for those sports through our built-in strength and conditioning program.

Tournament play as player development

As a club, we play in two tournaments per month during our seasons. Tournament play gives players experience playing as a team and learning how to respond to both winning and losing, with the intention of teaching our athletes to compete fearlessly while showing respect to their opponents, coaches, and refs.

A platform to live for Christ

We believe exemplifying what it looks like to live for Christ through our words and actions is our most important duty as coaches. Athletics is an amazing avenue to teach hard work, integrity, accountability, and treating others the way you’d want to be treated.
